Seed Phrase

A sequence of words that can restore a Bitcoin wallet and the keys it controls. It is also called a recovery phrase.

Why it matters

A seed phrase is a powerful backup: anyone with it may be able to take control of the associated bitcoin.

If a phone is lost, a person can install a compatible wallet and restore access using their seed phrase.
